Burberry's Bailey awarded Designer of 2009

BEIJING, Dec. 10 -- One of Britain's best-known fashion designers Christopher Bailey was named Designer of the Year 2009 at British Fashion Awards Wednesday night.
Last night's fashion gala marked a significant year for Bailey, the 38-year-old Yorkshireman. As Burberry's chief creative director, Christopher Bailey has turned the heritage fashion brand into a global luxury label.
It is the second time Bailey was awarded this title, last time was in 2005.
Early in June this year, Bailey was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen Elizabeth's Birthday Honor List, for his contributive services to the fashion industry.
Last week, he became an Honorary Patron of Dublin's Trinity College's Philosophical Society, a forum for the discussion of artistic and aesthetic ideas for more than three hundred years.
The gala evening was the climax event of the 25th anniversary celebrations for London Fashion Week which attracted many superstars.
