Bridge collapses in India, 17 killed
The photo taken on December 25, 2009, shows a collapsed bridge in Talaja town, some 270 kms from Ahmedabad. At least 17 people were killed and 30 others were feared trapped or drowned after a bridge collapsed in western India, officials said Friday.
Seventeen laborers died and 30 others were feared trapped or drowned when a bridge under construction over River Chambal in India's north-western state of Rajasthan collapsed.
The missing workers are believed to be trapped in the debris.
Rescue and relief operations are in full swing with the assistance of Army personnel, who are searching for the missing and trapped.
A South Korean company was overseeing the construction of the 50-meter long span. It is unclear what caused the collapse.
